Bishop Joanne's visit
It was a real joy to welcome Bishop Joanne Grenfell to St Peter’s, Thurston, this morning for the First Sunday of Lent.
Joanne’s sermon gave us plenty to reflect on, particularly as we captured a few selfies together (see some fine examples below!). She spoke about how a selfie can be a great snapshot of who we are in Christ, but also how easy it is to "strike a pose" and be less than our true selves—sometimes even putting on a filter that masks the light of God trying to shine through us.
As we begin our Lenten journey, we are called instead to allow Jesus to be the true imprint upon our lives. By being authentically ourselves, we show others the truth of God’s love and become a light to those around us.
It was an inspiring visit for all of us as we seek to shine that light across Great Barton and Thurston. Also pictured is a beautiful posy made by one of our wonderful (and beloved!) church members.
