What if the Sermon on the Mount is not a checklist of impossible moral demands, but an invitation into an entirely different way of understanding the world?
Beginning this autumn, we are gathering for a weekly Bible study exploring the Beatitudes through the lens of Franciscan author Richard Rohr’s transformative book, Jesus’ Alternative Plan: The Sermon on the Mount. Together, we will examine how Jesus invites us out of our culture’s fixation on climbing, status, and control, and into an upside-down wisdom grounded in gentleness, restorative justice, and deep inner peace.
Each one-hour session includes scripture, short reflections, open group discussion, and space for quiet contemplation. Whether you have spent a lifetime studying scripture or are coming to the Beatitudes with fresh questions, your perspective and presence are warmly welcomed.
Forming Your Own Group
If Monday evenings do not suit your schedule, a complete pack of resources—including weekly readings, reflections, and discussion guides—is available for anyone wishing to host a group at another mutually agreeable time and place. Please speak with Fr Ben to collect materials or discuss setting up an independent study circle.
